For those who are not local to Lichfield, this attractive small, expanding gem of a city in Staffordshire is in easy proximity to many places and well worth a visit.  Lichfield was a Mediaeval City. Amongst its numerous charms are Minster Pool and Stowe Pool.  

Where to eat/ drink in Lichfield:

There are many good places to eat in Lichfield. Weather permitting, one can eat outside at many of the cafes/bistros.

  • Lichfield Farmer’s Market – on the historic Market Square            First Thursday of Every Month 9am-3pm.Local fresh produce and crafts, seasonal specialities and attractions
  •  General markets held every week on Tuesday, Friday & Saturday on the Market Square.
  • The National Arboretum near Alrewas
  • The Marina at Barton-under-Needwood

  • Garrick Theatre – see website for programming   
  • The Lichfield Festival – usually held in June/July 
  • Lichfield Arts- folk, root, jazz & blues events 
  • Lichfield Mysteries
  • Mediaeval Fayre – early July. Fascinating, and lively event all around the vicinity of Lichfield Cathedral. Stallholders dressed in mediaeval garb, (priests, and wenches manning stalls with wonderful products/ bric a brac/ plants/ honey/mead. Most years, features variety of birds from a bird of prey sanctuary. You may even be lucky to see a display of Harris Hawks.  
  • Proms in the Park – free event in Beacon Park – Early September
  • Regular meetings and Talks and presentations for specialist interest groups eg. RSPB; Staffordshire Wildlife Trust; The Scientific & Engineering Society.
  • Annual Erasmus Darwin Memorial Lecture.  
  • Annual events Fuse - live music during the Summer, usually held in Beacon Park.
